I use Safari as my Mac's default browser and have recently encountered the following message when attempting to download files:

  • Move enough other files off the boot drive temporarily to an external drive to free up the space iCloud demands. Switch to optimize, and hope that Photos doesn't actually delete any or many.
  • I have 85GB free on my mac yet at the moment it's not even letting me download a single photo or anything. When I try it says 'Safari can t save the file'. I have over 2GB free of memory. I don't get what the issue is? Sometimes when I restart the computer I can download a few things but then it doesn't let me download anymore.
  • Empty Your Trash. This will seem like a no-brainer to most of the people reading this article.

  • Start up Disk Utility which is in your local version of Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities directory.
  • Click on Repair Disk Permissions.
  • That should fix your Safari download problem!
